For the second time in a row Norman has been awarded best company within Internet security in the Netherlands. This was the result in a Dutch consumer survey performed by the magazine PC Consument.
The magazine had nominated several leading IT security vendors for the award in the category Best Internet Security. Norman was clearly regarded the best company for 2006 by the consumers.

Norman has now released signature files that will stop malware using the latest vulnerability in Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser. All Norman customers that download the latest updates will be safe.
This is a serious vulnerability that could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the users's system.
- We have released signature files that detect and stop the scripts that are using the vulnerability. By updating your Norman antivirus program you are protected against the malware that are using this exploit, says virus analyst Gunnar Johansen at Norman ASA.

Does your cat or dog have a surveillance tag around its neck or under its skin in order to protect it or make you feel safe? If so this may not offer the security you had once thought! It has now been shown that it may be possible to infect such tags with computer viruses and other malware.
So called RFID tags (Radio Frequency Identification Device) are likely to be more and more common in the future. They will be embedded in passports, luggage tags for airlines, electronic devices and they can be placed around the neck or under the skin of pets. Researchers at Norman today discovered a new Trojan horse program that installs and displays a child pornographic movie.
The Trojan, dubbed "W32/Agent.ULL", appears to use this feature as bait in order to get users to run it. The file name of the sample submitted to Norman suggests that a user would be aware of the illegal content of the file, but the primary function of the Trojan is not to plant the video. Norman Virus Control has received yet another 100% award from the renowned Virus Bulletin Magazine. This time the test was performed on Windows NT platforms. With this award Norman has received the recognition from Virus Bulletin 31 times.
Even though Windows NT is an ancient platform it is still used by a fair number of people, which is why Virus Bulletin decided to test antivirus products on this platform in its February edition.
